Production of Bokk
In Norwegian, Bokk is a type of dark and strong lager. Read as a phonetic transcription, Bokk could mean ‘A bend’ or simply ‘A Buck’.
The sculptural qualities of our objects lead more often than not to complex manufacturing techniques. We make our collection wherever the traditional craft techniques are best kept alive and wherever the required specialized competence is found.
Bokk is manufactured in China.
An ancient technique
Our bronze is made from a mix of copper and tin. The actual casting is an ancient technique as bronze was the first metal alloy to be shaped into tools and ornaments some 5000 years ago.
From the plaster molds we made a solid shape in ceramic which in turn was imprinted into sand molds ready to be filled with red hot liquid metal.
Bokk is produced in India.
Designer Sigve Knutson on the production of Bokk
Bokk as a part of Nedre Foss
Bokk represents a rich addition to our brand in terms of materiality and expression. The way Sigve Knutson is turning towards our collective memory for inspiration as well as his approach to design as functional sculpture, seem like a perfect match to our core values.
