Julie Richoz
After graduating from ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne (2012), she worked for Pierre Charpin as a project assistant (2013-2015). Since then, she set up her design studio in Paris, where she enjoys with curiosity and sensibility, to develop her own language through objects.
From uniques pieces to industrial scale, she sees a form of continuity rather than difference between the two ways of production. In both cases fascinated by the savoir-faire, by the passion and by the precision in handling the materials.
Her practice is ranging from object, furniture, lighting to textile, for companies such as Vitra, Alessi, Tectona, Hay, La Manufacture de Cogolin, Galerie Kreo among others.
My intention was to create an object open to interpretation — something that could hold books, yet also serve as a portable weight, useful in countless imaginable and unimaginable ways within a domestic space.

It’s an animal but it’s not, it’s a rune character but it’s not, it’s a bookend but it’s not. I believe it doesn’t assert its role too quickly, and I like that.
