When is an object a sculpture and when is it not?
To us it is related to a certain evocative presence to the object – the ability to stir a reflection, a memory or even layers of memories, an object that could present itself to you in different ways. Sometimes it could be about context or even about something as simple as scale.
There are elements in Laguz that remind us of 1920’s German Expressionism – like it has a built-in distorted shadow or an elongated perspective that makes it super dynamic – this is something we really appreciate with this piece.

Originally we saw this as primarily a book-end – but it could really serve any purpose throughout your home wherever you need a little extra weight.
The integrated handle makes the object reminiscent of traditional scale weights, and is at the same time making a gesture and animating a character.
